Indy Chapter, Studebaker Drivers Club, We meet monthly at various places around central Indiana. We have mostly pitch in dinners and some cruises that are planned in advance by the member host. We have 71 members that own or are interested Studebakers. We have the purist and modified faction along with some antique enthusiasts in our group. We are fortunate to have some Studebaker celebrities as members. Ted Harbit is a 8 time NHRA national stock class champion in years past. He still is drag racing the same '51 Stude that he has owned for over 40 years. It remains Stude powered and has run a best of 10.23 @ 137. A far cry from the days of a 232" stock engine running in the low 15's. Bob Palma, another member, is a technical editor for the Turning Wheels magazine, the national publication for the more than 12,000 members of the Studebaker Drivers Club. The reason for this little bit of history is of course to promote and help keep the name visible. You might file it away for reference at a later date if ever needed.
