My 1952 Chevy belonged to my brother who is next to me in age. He went into the Navy and stayed 4 years. He wasn't married and his checks came to my mom. She put every check into the bank. When he got out and was home he bought a New G T O. The 52 Chevy was never driven again. It was in my dad's Pole Barn for 35 years. Dad complained about the car taking up room and he put up poles on each side and boards across the top. The chickens roosted up there at night and high enough for the wild animals couldn't get to them. He always had close to 200 chickens on the farm running loose. There was almost 12 inches of chicken manure all over the car. And he also had about 100 goats. They'd climb on the roof because this type of animal always wanted to be higher than any other animal. There was so many on the roof they were able to cave the roof down some. The wind shield was scratched so bad I couldn't see out of it from the hooves of the goats. I put in new wind shields but kept the back glass and it is scratched real bad too. But that shows my story.
The car was given to my youngest brother who had two teenage boys, 15 and 16. He told them to fix up that old car and they'd have some thing no one else had. NOW the car was very junk looking in the barn. They told their dad they wouldn't drive it to a junk yard and never down a street. So the car sat another 10 years after it was given to them. One day Dad told me he was going to call the junk yard to come after it. He was sick of that junk in the barn. I called my brother up and asked if he wanted to sell it? He said who wants it? I said I do I want to fix it up and drive it. He said it was given to me I will give it to you. So I went after the title.
I took the Jerry out to the farm he said he'd restore it for me and see what he'd charge. He looked at it and said $4500 and it would look like new. I thought that was a great price. So I agreed.
When we pulled the car out of the barn and was going down the road in the wrecker. You couldn't see behind the wrecker from all of the dust, dirt and chicken manure flying off it.
It was in Jerry's Action Auto Body Shop for 6 1/2 years we started on it Oct 2000 and the car was done on June 2007. Ever so often he'd come and say I need another $1000 he said the price of parts has went through the roof. Then a week later he wanted another $1000 or so. My wife started complaining she said what you have in that old car we could of bought a new one. I told her when it is done it will be new just an old one all new other wise. I ended up putting $19,000 in it.
My car is all 1952 Chevy on top and it has a Corvette LT-1 Motor 350 / 375 HP and a Corvette 4 Speed Automatic Transmission.
NOW what I am going to tell you is not a brag. It is just my story since I started showing my car off. It is an honor to have people vote on my car or be judged with so many beautiful cars. I got the car back on a Saturday afternoon in June 2007. I won my first trophy that night. Some one said there is a show going on tomorrow. I went and won my second trophy. I have been to about 67 Car Shows and I have won 62 trophies and 7 Best of Shows in that count since June 2007. I go to two every week end and three if it is a Holiday. If I win a trophy it is just an added bonus I love talking about my car and showing it off to people.
