Roger Wilhite. 1970 Nova; This is a true Super Sport car, I'm the third owner and have the original title with protecto plate. It was purchased in Columbia Tenn. The only body work ever done was in 1983 when the original owner had rear patch panels installed (rear wheel wells). I bought the car in 2000 for $10,000. I changed the motor the following year with a 454 ci, 2 years later I replaced the 454 with a 502 ci. Then 2 1/5 years later I replaced the 502 with a 489 ci Stroker (i call it a 490). The 490 is pushing around 530 hp at 5300 rpm and 580 foot pounds of torque, it has a comp cam with a 550 lift and 292 duration, brand new GM cast iron heads with 2.190 manley valves. 10.2:1 compression, hardened steel crank, forged pistons, Mighty Demon 850 cfm carb. Its all hooked up to a 700r4 tranny, (4-speed auto with overdrive) the rear-end is a Moser 9-inch posi-trac with 390 gears. The rear-end has been powder coated with a two-stage process, the color is called silver vein from Gale Enameling in Plainfield, In. The radiater core support and inner fenders are also powder coated with the silver vein color. The front clip was replaced 3 years ago with an after market mustang II front end with rack/pinion steering and air bags from Air Ride Technologies in Jasper In. The 3" custom exhaust is from Beck's Muffler in Greenwood In. The Hooker comp headers and the entire exhaust system has been ceramic coated (shiney chrome) by Pro-Kote in Indy. The car was painted 2 years ago with silver metalic, with ghost flames (can't see them can you). Jan 2007 edition; The front clip is being replaced with an original clip from an 1969 Nova, this has been blasted and all holes that are not needed are welded and sanded. It will then go to the powder coat shop and have approx 10 mil thick of the blackest shiniest color they. It will have tubular upper and lower control arms and coil-over Koni shocks from Detroit Speed. The firewall will be replaced with an 1/4 thick brushed aluminum, powder coated light graphite. The rear suspension is being replaced with a ladder bar set up with coil-over Koni shocks.(eliminate the leaf springs). By doing this I can get an 11.5 " tire underneath without cutting into the trunk. Oh gee, I think I'll replace the engine. The 502 ci that I took out is now a 540 ci Stroker. This engine will have approx 630 hp with over 700 foot pounds of torque. (depending on the carburetion).
